Preceptors are a vital link between the School of Pharmacy and the Pharmacy profession. The input of preceptors into the course is greatly valued.

"The Pharmacy Guild of Australia is delighted to support the University of Queensland Pharmacy School Preceptor Program. It is vital that we support our pharmacy students during their undergraduate years by allowing them to see and participate in a 'live' community pharmacy practice. I encourage community pharmacists to assist in this initiative and congratulate those pharmacies that have assisted in the past".
Kos Sclavos, National President, The Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

The Branch Committee of the Queensland Branch of the Pharmacy Guild of Australia are enthusiastic supporters of the University of Queensland Pharmacy School Preceptor Program. Experience in applying the knowledge the students are amassing during their course, in a practical way, in functioning community pharmacies, is an invaluable and essential part of the development of well-informed candidates for membership of our great profession. Exposure to the latest information in therapeutic drug treatment being taught to these students is also very beneficial to the preceptor pharmacists toiling away at the coalface of community practice. I encourage all pharmacists in community pharmacies to support and participate in this program, and thank all those that have done so in the past for their contribution to the future of our profession"
Tim Logan - Queensland Branch President, Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

"All those pharmacists who have been preceptors for pre-registration students realise the value these students provide to their pharmacy practice. The University of Queensland pharmacy school is now releasing students early in their course for on-site education in pharmacies (community and hospital). Students have the advantage of discovering early in the course whether this is the profession they want to have and can quickly learn to apply knowledge gained during the course. For the pharmacists who choose to have these students in their pharmacies there comes a number of benefits. The curiosity they apply to their new surroundings can infuse a tired pharmacist with renewed vigour for their profession, as they answer questions and explain why things are done the way they are. Also pharmacists can begin to know a number of students and gain a potential field of new employees about which they already have some knowledge. The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (Qld Branch) strongly supports placements of students in real–practice environments as having advantage to both the student and the pharmacist".
Warren Blee, Ex-President, Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (Queensland Branch).
