The School of Pharmacy was established at The University of Queensland in 1960. Several degrees are awarded;
- Bachelor of Pharmacy
- Honours, on-course or postgraduate is available
- Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, and Masters degree in Clinical Pharmacy
- Doctorate in Clinical Pharmacy (first in Australia)
The Bachelor degree is taught as six integrated streams of study:
- Quality Use of Medicines
- Dosage Form Design
- Drug Discovery
- Data Analysis in Pharmacy
- Biological Fate of Drugs
- Social and Professional Aspects of Pharmacy
The School is actively engaged in research, with activities in all major areas of pharmacy and the pharmaceutical sciences, grouped into three main research strengths:
- Therapeutic targeting
- Quality use of medicines
- Mathematical modelling and simulation.
Significant research funds are obtained from government and private sources and include support from NHMRC, Queensland Cancer Fund, Queensland Pharmacy Research Trust, Federal and State governments and the pharmaceutical industry.
